conference The conference takes as its starting point debates on the role of theory within craft that have taken place over the last two to three years. In what ways might craft theory move forwards as an active multidisciplinary area of research with an international focus? The conference aims to stimulate dialogue between makers, critics, curators and academics from a range of disciplines including art history, design history, fashion history, sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, gender studies, social and economic history and literary studies. The Conference will feature the following strands:
Theorising Craft in a Contemporary Context
Craft and Post-colonialism
Curating the Craft Object
Craft, Fashion and the Body
Craft and the Self: Identity, Memory and Meaning For further information on the speakers and events, click here For information on exhibitions, click here |
